At a glance you can see the important topics and how they are related. NewsMaps are created using a sophisticated software system that reads documents from the internet and organizes them onto an information landscape based on their content. The CIA's cover story for the bombed Chinese Embasy in Belgrade is as thin as the bathroom paper that it's written on. With cellphone- packing-gps toting spotters on the ground in and around the "theatre" and realtime spy satellite images, the spooks and the pentagon have to come up with a better public relations story than "stale" data to explain away the million$a-pop killing. HRW Executive director Kenneth Roth said, "NATO says it is fighting a war on behalf of human rights. If so, then it's absolutely essential for NATO to scrupulously respect human rights in its conduct of this war. NATO must do everything feasible to avoid hitting civilians." Earlier, HRW issued a statement critical of NATO's use of cluster bombs and a detailed background report on the weapon. CNN estimates that $1.1m (£680,000) worth of its equipment has been stolen, confiscated, damaged or destroyed in Yugoslavia since Nato bombing began there less than two months ago. In addition to the equipment, which has to be replaced, coverage of the war is costing CNN an estimated $150,000 a day. CNN International's president, Chris Cramer, described the cost as a 'taxi meter'. A $400,000 satellite transmitter placed next to the Serbian TV station in Belgrade was destroyed when Nato bombed the building. Five CNN-owned vehicles and a rental car have also been lost, and a camera, a night scope and other equipment worth more than $250,000 were destroyed when a Serbian mob recently attacked the CNN correspondent Brent Sadler.
